Key responsibilities
- Conduct major repairs and rebuilds of diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulic pumps for heavy equipment such as backhoes and wheel loaders.
- Plan and execute comprehensive maintenance schedules, including routine servicing, lubrication, and safety inspections to prevent breakdowns.
- Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty vehicles and machine attachments such as hydraulic horse pipes, blades, and side booms.
- Inspect engines, gearboxes, hydraulics, electrical systems, tyres, and frames.
- Monitoring equipment performance and troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults.
- Keep accurate maintenance records including up-to-date tyre register.
- Apply technical knowledge and cost-awareness to improve workshop efficiency and reliability.
- Monitor materials and supplies required for machine operation.
- Suggest and implement improvements to enhance machine performance, productivity, and safety.
