Key responsibilities
- Enforce hostel policies on visiting hours, ensuring strict adherence to timekeeping.
- Uphold safety and security standards in the hostels to protect students and their property, monitor compliance with security protocols.
- Patrol hostel premises regularly, checking for running water left on, misplaced items, hazards or property requiring maintenance and repair.
- Ensure all security lights are in proper working condition, promptly report and follow up on repairs or replacement.
- Manage the issuing and tracking of keys, safe return of keys and maintain accurate records.
- Conduct daily inspections of operational areas and facilities to identify maintenance, safety or cleanliness issues.
- Coordinate and supervise cleaning and housekeeping activities to maintain hygiene standards within the hostels.
- Coordinate and oversee the movement, storage and proper use of equipment and furniture.
- Prepare meeting rooms by arranging tables, chairs, equipment, and other requirements as needed.
- Assist in events before, during, and after including setup, on-the-day support and breakdown.
- Ensure all emergency readiness equipment like first aid kits, fire extinguishers and evacuation procedures are in place and functional.
- Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Candidate requirements
- Education, knowledge and experience.
- Certificate in Housekeeping, administration, facilities managament or equivalent; a diploma in the related field will be an added advantage.
- At least 2 years of experience in hostel, facilities or property management.
- Knowledge of the operations of a university will be an added advantage.
